Monica Decker joined McColly Real Estate as the Director of Marketing & Technology in April of 2005. She graduated from Chicago’s American Academy of Art in 1989 with a degree in Graphic Design and a major in Advertising. Previously, Monica worked for NWI Times daily newspaper for 14 years; 6 of those years as the Senior Art Director in the Advertising Department. During that time, she managed and trained a staff of 40 graphic designers amongst 3 satellite offices and worked closely with the pre-press and editorial departments.
Monica brings with her 30 years of experience in strategizing, budgeting and creating effective marketing collateral, presentations, and social media / digital campaigns. She is the architect for mccolly.com, the #1 local real estate website in Northwest Indiana. Monica consistently strives to take McColly’s marketing and technology to the next level, while keeping McColly Brokers educated in the latest trends.
McColly Real Estate is a trusted local business for over 45 years. The company has held the #1 position in NWI market share according to the GNIAR MLS for over the past 10 years; and has been voted #1 in the Times Best of the Region for the past 6 years in a row. Monica prides herself in the fact all marketing creative is done in-house. Reason being, this allows McColly Brokers the freedom to tailor their branding campaigns and websites to target to their specific sphere of influence. This is definitely an advantage over local franchises.
As a chairwoman for the McColly Foundation, Monica helps plan, market and expedite the various drives and collections that take place throughout the year to give back to the local community. In her free time, Monica is a long-distance runner who has completed two marathons and currently mentors the half marathon group for Fleet Feet in Schererville, Indiana. She’s happily married to Mark Decker for 29 years and supports the Humane Society. They have adopted several shelter dogs throughout the years, including currently two German Shepherds and a Keeshond mix.
Above all, Monica believes together, all things are possible.
On her career in Real Estate:
“I actually come from a publishing background, and earned my real estate license after I joined McColly Companies. I believe the fact I’ve always been able to see real estate from the consumer’s point of view, rather than solely as a Realtor, has been the key to my success.”
On the Real Estate Industry:
“I think it’s remarkable to see how far we’ve come with the real estate industry. Before my time, Realtors had to look up listings in a printed ‘listing book’ at the office that had to be manually updated. Then, they had to drive clients to several homes to physically see what the homes looked like, after going to the listing office and picking up a key & then returning it afterwards, so the next agent could show the home.
Today, most consumers look to the internet first to view homes for sale, then schedule a showing request online. Clients even have the opportunity to virtually see the home through a video livestream with the Broker, who can unlock the house via electronic lockbox technology. Contracts and signatures are all done electronically now, from the safety of one’s home. Just in 2020 alone, the real estate technology landscape has changed with agents using Zoom or Google Meet to conduct their business. I’m proud to see how well everyone’s adapted just in the past 10 months.”
