Build and organize your database

Creating and maintaining relationships has never been more important. As a society, we have learned that we took human interaction for granted. Now that we haven’t seen many of our friends, family, and clients for an extended period of time, it can be hard to feel connected to anyone outside of your quarantine “bubble”. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Go through your spheres of influence and start adding people to your customer relationship management system (CRM). It may help to organize your CRM by primary and secondary connections, so you can keep track of your relationships. Call up a client that you haven’t talked to in a while and catch up. If you had a friend who was planning on selling, call them and fill them in on what’s happening in the housing market right now. Plan a zoom happy hour with a client and share the new hobbies you picked up during quarantine. I promise you; they will appreciate it. Real estate is an industry built on relationships; make sure that you maintain yours. Remember, there can be no sale without a good relationship. People all over the world are longing to talk about their days to someone. Be that person for your clients.

Find new ways to generate business

Generating business during this time can be difficult when the market is slow, and more people are posting about COVID-19 than about potentially buying or selling a home. To get ahead, find new ways to generate business! Utilize the tools offered to you by your brokerage to help you find buyers, leads, and more. Technology that might not have interested you before could be the very thing that puts you ahead of the competition once this is all over. Learning how to effectively use these features will help you become a more informed agent and your clients will be grateful. 

Build your online brand

We are in a new kind of digital age. Zoom and social media have taken over our lives and we have to find ways to keep up. Right now, people are checking the internet more than ever and it is very important to build your online brand. Social media streams and websites are a primary source of leads and referrals, so use this time to develop an effective marketing plan. Great agents do not rely on anyone to do this for them; they have done their research and invest in the marketing plan themselves. Because we cannot meet in person nearly as much in this new world, your online presence has become the new first impression. Regular posts with that are useful and relevant to your contacts will not only strengthen the relationship, but also demonstrate your experience.

Become the neighborhood expert

There are a lot of things to worry about right now. Homeowners that were planning on selling or buying might be worried about the housing market and could be hesitant to act. You have a greater understanding of the market, as well as the process of selling and buying, so use it! Learn as much as you can about the current market trends and research the particular neighborhoods that your clients are interested in. They will be relieved to be working with someone who understands what they want and if you can provide them with valuable knowledge, they will be extremely grateful.   

Take care of yourself first

On a more personal note, you must put yourself and your health first. We’ve all been through the beginning stage of quarantine, baking every dessert under the sun, binging TV shows, wearing the same pair of sweatpants for consecutive days, sounds familiar right? And trust me, there is nothing wrong with that if that is what makes you feel good. Some of you might be feeling the “quarantine guilt”, or the feeling that you should be using this time to better yourself in some way. That might help some people direct their energy, but that mindset can be harmful to others. This is a stressful, unknown time and you should give yourself a pat on the back for handling it however you choose to handle it. If working out every day makes you feel good, go for it. If you’d rather watch movies after work and eat popcorn with your loved ones, do it. Your mental health is so important, now more than ever. The best way to become a better agent is to be happy with yourself; you will attract good energy If you have good energy yourself.
